ACKLEY’S ALLEY: Modeled after Elphreth’s Alley in Old town Philadelphia dating to 1703, It is a street where artisans and working-class families lived. Immerse yourself in the story of textiles and follow the journey from fiber to finished product: sheep to wool blankets, flax to linen clothing. Experience spinning, carding, weaving, needlework. Discover the joy of working with your hands on this very busy side of town.
TOWN SQUARE: Eighteenth Century villages commonly had a town square or a Market Street. Merchants and Trades of the era lined the streets. The tavern and the church were centrally located, and it was customary to visit a tavern first when arriving in town. Enjoy our town square with trades and engage in a lawn game and talk with the locals. Visit the Bell in Hand Tavern. modeled after the gathering place in Boston run by the town crier, hence the name.
