 ACKLEY’S ALLEY: Modeled after Elphreth’s Alley in Old town Philadelphia dating to 1703, It is a street where artisans and working-class families lived. Immerse yourself in the story of textiles and follow the journey from fiber to finished product: sheep to wool blankets, flax to linen clothing. Experience spinning, carding, weaving, needlework. Discover the joy of working with your hands on this very busy side of town. 

TOWN SQUARE: Eighteenth Century villages commonly had a town square or a Market Street. Merchants and Trades of the era lined the streets. The tavern and the church were centrally located, and it was customary to visit a tavern first when arriving in town. Enjoy our town square with trades and engage in a lawn game and talk with the locals. Visit the Bell in Hand Tavern. modeled after the gathering place in Boston run by the town crier, hence the name. 

LIFEWAYS: Explore different types of living in the 18th century. In Middletown, meet a Frontiersman, a traveling buckskinner, a voyageur and more. 

MERCANTILE: Shop our mercantile and bring home unique gifts and specialty crafts to reflect your visit to Middletown 1775.

TAVERN TALKS:  At 11:30am and at 2:30pm each day, historical figures will attend the Bell in Hand Tavern to wet their whistle and talk with the patrons.

Friday –  Mrs. Washington and Debra Samson share some history. 

Saturday - Polly Cooper,  Billy Flora, and Martha Washington engage the audience in historical banter.

WHERE IS GEORGIE? A mischievous eagle calls Middletown home. He likes to hide throughout the town and keep an eye on the goings-on. As you explore and visit, keep an eye out! If you can find 13 of his hiding spots, you can earn a reward and a discount to purchase a Georgie to take home for your very own. 

SPY MISSIONS: Things are changing in 1775 Middletown. Try your hand at the spy mission and help the rebels with crucial intelligence to gain an upper hand.

CRIME & PUNISHMENT: Discover the stockade & other forms of punishment for malefactors in 1775.

PERIOD COSTUMES: Feast your eyes upon villagers donning the clothing worn by men, women, and children during the 18thCentury.

GENEAOLOGY: Find out if one of your ancestors served during the Revolutionary War by stopping in at the Daughters of the American Revolution table and chat with one of the genealogists.
